- I am a girl who grew up in Brooklyn and spent a lot of time scouring stoop sales. For those unfamiliar with the stoop sale, it is the Brooklyn version of a yard or garage sale. The essential and somewhat obvious qualities of a stoop sale are as follows: a stoop (of course); a random hodgepodge of clothes, dusty books with some notes in the margins, old vinyl, mix tapes from the 80's, chotchkies, distasteful nick-nacks, embarrassing collectables once hidden beneath your bed, and some of those so-called "finds"; and reasonable prices that make Beacon's Closet look like a rip off. Essentially, it is along the lines of the old saying, "one man's trash is another man's treasure."
